POYD Meeting Was Realised
The traditional meeting of Professional Hotel Managers Association (POYD), sponsored by Eczacıbaşı Profesyonel, a company in Eczacıbaşı Consumer Products Group, was held in Limak Lara Delux Hotel in Antalya on April 30. Working towards improving professionalism in hotel management sector and to reinforce collaboration and communication among sector managers, POYD’s traditional meeting hosted Ata Selçuk, Innovation Coordinator of Eczacıbaşı Holding, with his speech on the subject ‘The winner is the one who creates experience’. Eczacıbaşı Profesyonel offers professional cleaning, hygiene, food products and services to businesses through complete solutions and makes contributions to the tourism sector, one of the areas that it serves, in order to increase effectiveness in the sector. Ata Selçuk, Innovation Coordinator of Eczacıbaşı Holding, made a speech on the subject ‘The winner is the one who creates experience’ in POYD’s meeting on April 30 which was organised to increase professional information and to ensure professional information exchange and solidarity.The meeting which was open to POYD members was also attended by Melike Koçoğlu, Marketing Director of Eczacıbaşı Profesyonel, which has been the main sponsor of POYD since 2011.
Ata Selçuk, “Innovation is the key to success.”
Eczacıbaşı Holding Innovation Coordinator Ata Selçuk said in his speech that today companies are trying to cope with and survive against the intense competition that is created by many competitors entering the market and new products that have been launched on one hand and the problem of dedifferentiation brought by globalisation. Ata Selçuk, added that in this new period when the competitive pressure in the world is deeply felt, companies’ survival depends on always being different, striking and extraordinary in customers’ eyes and that innovation is the only way of achieving this. Mentioning that innovation has recently become the most popular concept, Ata Selçuk noted that a large number of books and researches about innovation have been published in the world in parallel with the increasing interest. Indicating that this led to an increase in the number of “incorrect things known to be correct”, Ata Selçuk said, “The biggest fallacy is the belief that innovation only consists of R&D and only covers the product and the technology”. Ata Selçuk continued: “This belief brings along another misperception that companies without R&D unit cannot make innovation and causes people to miss the perfect opportunity of experience that customers can live in all stages of consumption related to products or services with “experience innovation”
About Ata Selçuk
After graduating from METU Business Administration in 1989, Ata Selçuk started his career as Brand Manager in Düzey Marketing, a Koç Group company. In 1992, Selçuk shifted to a different sector as Product Manager in Abdi İbrahim ilaçand finally undertook several duties in the organisation where he worked as Marketing Sales Manager. Having worked as Marketing Manager in Cyanamid Agrochemicals in 1999 for a very short period, he joined the same year to Eczacıbaşı Community as Marketing and Sales Manager in Eczacıbaşı İlaç Pazarlama. Between 2004 and 2008 he worked as Eczacıbaşı Health Care Services General Manager. After his appointment in August 2008 as General Manager to the RTS Renal Treatment Services, an Eczacıbaşı Baxter partnership, in August 2009 he started working as Innovation Coordinator in Eczacıbaşı Holding.

POYD was established in 1992 in Antalya in order to improve professionalism in hotel management sector and to reinforce collaboration and communication among sector managers. Becoming more and more powerful everyday with the participation and support of hotel managers, the association aims to contribute to the production of informantion in our country with original hotel management and tourism researches. POYD has a total of 235 members, of which 177 are full, 21 are candidates, 7 are honor members and 30 are students.
